Showcase

November 05 was a very busy time for MANX STAGING. We promoted a very special showcase evening at Foxdale Film Studio. The evening was intended to promote local companies supplying their equipment and skills to the islands entertainment industry. We invited members of the Manx government, and other promoters from both the Island and the UK. We did this to make sure there was no doubt that there are companies on the Island that can, and do supply a very professional service to the Islands entertainment industry.

The evening started off with G.A.S.P. The band opened up the show with a few cover songs, and then they let the crowd have it. The second half of their set, was a mix of Soul, Funk and just a little bit of Rock. The majority of which are their own songs. They received a large round of applaud from the near 300 strong crowd.

Then we were treated to a lighting and laser show, like no one had ever seen before. Our guests sat back in their seats provided by FINISHING TOUCHES and watched a totally professional and well thought out display, using projection, moving-head lights and a laser. The laser display was choreographed to music by Paul and Martin now of MANX LIGHTING, and the timing was perfect.

After an interval everyone found their seats and sat back to be entertained. BACK DOOR SLAM took to the stage. A young band with a lot of places to go and they really did rise to the occasion. This very talented trio played a very tight and interesting blues set, including many well known songs. there was not a still foot in the building. Davie Knowles (lead guitar/vocals) even managed to play his guitar behind his head half way through one of their tunes. True showmanship in such a young band. They don't sound too bad either.

Next we projected a short film onto a large screen on stage. The RABBIT was produced and filmed on the Island by local people working in the islands film industry. We weren’t quite sure, if showing a short film was the right thing to do. 5 minutes into the film we realised our guests were enjoying the film, and they were laughing in all the right places.

Then to finish off the evening we were entertained by one of the finest Pink Floyd cover bands ever. Yes PIGS ON THE WING played a set for more than 90 minutes. without stopping once. The band worked their magic on the audience and at the end of the set, all our guests where still with us... shouting for more!

The evening was a great success in many ways. We all got very good feedback from are guests, and some have used are services many times since the event. We at MANX STAGING are very proud to say we put the evening together.
